Colors are mine

As some of you might know, I'm Rob Guillory, the artist of CHEW's, assistant. It is easily the coolest job that a college student could possibly ask for, especially as someone who was a fan even before he offered the job. I asked him for permission to put my work on the comic on my deviantart, so be prepared to see a few pages every time a new issue comes out.

Rob sends me the line art, rough approximations of where he wants shading, and I get the flats from a flat service that he uses. I then clean up the shading, color the flats, add a few filters, and do minimal lighting. I then send the page back to him, where he tweaks some of the colors, does some airbrushing, and adds details before sending it to John Layman, the author and letterer, who adds the word balloons.
